ST analysis detection potential oxygen deficiency unborn baby

STAN is the abbreviation of the term ST-analysis. The STAN® S41-monitor, which was developed by the Swedish firm Neoventa, analyses the ST-segment of the foetal ECG in real-time. The STAN S41 monitor provides a real-time analysis of the foetal CTG of a potential oxygen deficiency in the unborn baby.

STAN®

The STAN analysis provides a clear and reliable picture of a possible oxygen deficiency of the unborn baby. STAN enables the user to perform a timely intervention in case the baby is in a state of emergency. In addition, STAN helps to avoid unnecessary caesarean sections or vaginal assisted births.

STAN® S41

The STAN® S41 monitor provides gynaecologists and obstetricians with detailed information about situations in which the foetus experiences hypoxy during child birth.

Analysis of the ST segment

The STAN S41-monitor is the only device in the world that can make an analysis of the  ST segment of the foetal ECG. This analysis results in a substantial reduction of the risk of damage to the foetus. At the same time, it reduces the number of unnecessary surgical child births.

Functionalities STAN S41 monitor

The standard version of the STAN S41 monitor offers the following functionalities:

  • Movements of the child
  • Adjustable auditive and visual alarms
  • Interface for link to CMS
  • Archiving
  • External or internal monitoring of the foetal heartbeat and uterine activity.
  • Built-in thermal recorder with print features
  • A large, easy to clean, foldable colour touch screen that displays the registrations clearly
  • Warning signal for overlapping heartbeat of two foetuses and/or foetus and mother

STAN S41-options

Our offering includes a number of options that allow you to align the use of STAN with the individual requirements of the user.

    The following STAN-options are available:

    • A second ultrasound transducer for registration of twins
    • Wireless ultrasound and toco transducers, wireless registration of twins is available as an option
    • A system battery for use during transport
    • The STAN S41 Monitor can be mounted on a STAN-trolley with plenty of storage facilities. A system for mounting the monitor to a wall can also be provided,
    • Registration of the heartbeat of triplets – this functionality is optionally available with the STAN S41 Basic CTG-monitor
    • Monitoring of the intra-uterine activity with a IUP catheter
    Stan study

    Significant reduction of Metabolic Acidosis by 84% after STAN implementation

    A study conducted by the University Medical Centre in Utrecht, The Netherlands, has shown a reduction of metabolic acidosis of 84% – more specifically from 2.5% to 0.4% – in 19,664 medium to high risk pregnancies. The study was carried out over a period of 14 years during which the STAN method was implemented. The study also revealed a decrease in neonatal encephalopathy, the number of micro-blood samples, caesarean sections and vaginal instrumental deliveries.
